THE REAL MOTHER GOOSE

The Real Mother Goose is one of the first books I remember reading
It is one of the larger collections of rhymes for children
It has wonderful pen and watercolor illustrations by Blanche Fisher Wright
In 1989
The Real Mother Goose was 20th on the list of All-Time Bestselling Hardcover Children's Books, having sold 3,600,000
This book was originaly copyrighted in 1916
which now makes it in the public domain
I'm pleased to be able to transcribe it and make it available across the internet

Sing A Song of Sixpence

Sing a song of sixpence,  A pocket full of rye;  Four-and-twenty blackbirds  Baked in a pie!

When the pie was opened  The birds began to sing;  Was not that a dainty dish  To set before the king?

The king was in his counting-house,  Counting out his money;  The queen was in the parlor,  Eating bread and honey.

The maid was in the garden,  Hanging out the clothes;  When down came a blackbird  And snapped off her nose.

Three Blind Mice

Three blind mice! See how they run!  They all ran after the farmer's wife,  Who cut off their tails with a carving knife.  Did you ever see such a thing in your life  As three blind mice?
